Klein accuser spoke up to expose ‘Albany’s worst-kept secret’
A former staffer who accused Bronx state Sen. Jeff Klein of sticking his tongue down her throat said she went public to expose “Albany’s worst-kept secret.”
“He tried to use his power over me,” Erica Vladimer said in an NY1 interview Thursday night.
Klein has declined her claims that he forcibly kissed the much younger staffer outside an Albany bar in 2015.
Vladimer, who acknowledged she was drinking that night, but stood by her accusation — scoffed at the idea that having a drink after work damaged her credibility.
“I had drinks. But honestly, so what? Does that put a green light over my head for anybody to shove their tongue down my throat, to use their power over me?” she said.
“Everybody knows this is Albany’s worst-kept secret. We can no longer allow this to be secret.”
Klein, 57, who admitted spending time outside the bar with the 30-year-old staffer, claimed the incident never happened and welcomed a probe by the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics.
Klein is single but is in a close relationship with fellow Big Apple state senator Diane Savino.
