Local news broadcast refers to PyeongChang as P.F. Chang’s

A Chicago TV station apologized for using a graphic during local coverage of the Winter Olympics in which it advertised P.F. Chang’s, the Asian-inspired American restaurant chain, as the site of the Winter Games, not PyeongChang, South Korea.

Over the weekend, the graphic appeared during WLS-Channel 7’s coverage when anchor Mark Rivera was delivering his bit.

Speaking to the Chicago Tribune, a spokesperson for the local ABC affiliate said it was a simple mistake, explaining the graphic was put together for a “satirical piece” that belonged to a sports anchor. However, it wound up being used for a serious news story.

P.F. Chang’s offered this response to the mix-up:
